Age & Media Considerations

Magnetic media from the 1980s typically had an expected lifespan of 10–20 years; these cassettes are well beyond that window (30+ years old). Tape degradation—stretching, dropouts, oxide shedding—can occur. Attempting to load aging media may leave residue inside your tape deck or computer hardware and could affect future performance.
